Oconto County Programs

Lifespan & Financial programs provide the tools Wisconsinites need to thrive as well-rounded, capable individuals. Our programs promote aging-friendly communities, help individuals understand technology, mindfulness, the aging process and financial awareness.

This program offers one-hour series where caregivers get to connect, learn, and grow. Each session is divided into two parts: skill-building—whether learning something new or sharpening existing caregiving techniques, and on peer connection and sharing. Participants will also receive takeaway materials to support their caregiving journey beyond the session

Designed for helping professionals who provide daily care for older adults, this workshop has interactive presentations and hands-on activities that covers topics in older adult care including: person-centered care, dementia care, vision, maintaining mobility, nutrition, pain management, and emergency preparedness. Flexible scheduling to fit direct care work needs.

 A six-week, evidence-based program that provides participants with an opportunity to build knowledge and skills that will help them: reduce stress; 

improve self-confidence; manage time, set goals, and solve problems; better communicate their feelings; locate helpful resources; and make tough decisions.

Build your own personal playbook for aging well. This fun, innovative program with 10 modules empowers you to take key steps to improve your well-being, add stability to your life, and strengthen ties to your community. Meet new friends and provide encouragement to one another as you take the Aging Mastery journey together!

Planning AHEAD is a 7-session research-based program that will help participants understand how to prepare for the end of life for themselves or a loved one and understand the importance of having a plan in place. Program topics include Getting Started, Handling Financial Changes, Advanced Medical and Legal Directives, Estate Planning, Choices in End-of-Life Care, Final Wishes and Understanding Grief. A one-hour program where participants gain knowledge of falls risks, fall prevention, and home modifications; therefore, increasing confidence in safely aging in place. This education addresses why falls prevention is important to physical and mental health, common myths and realities, ways to make homes and environments safer through simple and inexpensive changes for current and future homes, and adaptations through home modifications, reorganization, and technology.

A one- hour program that teaches rural community members and farm families how to support one another when someone may be struggling. It builds confidence to start simple, supportive conversations before a crisis, using a seven-question guide. Participants learn how to listen, respond with care, and connect others to helpful resources when needed.

The Wisconsin StrongBodies Program, based on the National StrongPeople Program, empowers individuals of all ages to live stronger, healthier lives. Through community-based strength training programs, participants improve fitness, build strength, gain confidence, and connect socially, enhancing overall well-being.

This program is a specialized educational workshop designed to help family caregivers navigate their complex roles, establish personal boundaries, and recognize the quiet, lingering signs of caregiver burnout.
