The UW-Madison, Division of Extension offices in Langlade, Marinette, Oconto, and Shawano Counties are sponsoring a pair of crop pest scouting clinics on Friday, August 11. The clinics will help farms understand the late season pests and their impacts, and provide hands-on, in-field training on identification and proper scouting techniques of the primary corn and soy pests. The events are free and all interested persons are welcome to attend. Attendees are also welcome to bring samples from their own fields for identification.
The afternoon clinic begins at 12:30 p.m. and is hosted by Bulger Farms. The clinic will take place in the corn field located at the northwest corner of the junction of Cty. Hwy’s BB and E. Parking will be off Cty. BB, look for signs. This location will feature corn pests and alfalfa pests, with discussion of soybeans. As a bonus, attendees will be able to view the biological product by nitrogen rate research plots housed there.
